What data are we collecting? 
When you enroll as a student or subscriber on our site or related courses, submit a contact form, or send us an email, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address.  In the mailing list, we ask if you identify as a parent, a guide or school admin, or a homeschooling parent.  This helps us only send content and offers that are of interest to you.   Your location information, IP address, or even a cookie ID may be collected if you use our websites, but we don't save this information.  

If you have provided contact information, we may send you emails about your questions, ask for your opinions and feedback, suggest you join the mailing list, or alert you to policy changes or updates.  You will only be sent marketing offers like discounts, new product announcements, exclusive events, etc if you have explicitly given consent for us to do so.  

Personal data includes name, email, location information, or identifiers such as an IP address or even a cookie ID.  You are welcome to unsubscribe from our contact list at any time.  By giving us your information and/or using our site or services, you consent to this information being collected, used, disclosed, transferred to the United States and stored by us, as described in this Policy.

We may disclose your personal information if we are required by law to do so or if you violate our Terms of Service 

Third Party Services
We use the following services to manage our email list and offer products and/or services to you: Thinkific, MailChimp, Squarespace.  Your data is stored in their data storage, databases and general applications on a secure server behind a firewall. The third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us. 

Affiliate Links, Cookies, and Tracking
We use cookies and link-tracking to attribute visits from our websites to third-party sources in specific affiliate links.  These are noted as such links when they are present on our site.  We only link to items we love and would recommend, regardless of their affiliate status. By clicking on the link, you are offered the same (or lower) price, and a small percentage goes to us at The Prepared Environment.  We use these funds to help offset our costs and provide more value to you. 

The Prepared Environment is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to  We are also a participant in an affiliate program for Montessori Services, Etsy and Tiny Undies. 

We may also use automated tracking methods on our websites, in communications with you, and in our products and services, to measure performance and engagement.  Please note that because there is no consistent industry understanding of how to respond to “Do Not Track” signals, we do not alter our data collection and usage practices when we detect such a signal from your browser.  We use web analysis tools that are built into Squarespace and Google Analytics to measure and collect anonymous session information.

Our Payments are processed through Stripe or Wave accounting. You may choose to use Paypal at checkout. Payments are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.  All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and related courses and its service providers. If you provide  your credit card information to these services, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption.

We may change this Privacy Policy and/or Terms of Use at any time and from time to time. We encourage you to review this page often to stay informed of changes that may affect you, as your continued use of the Website signifies your continuing consent to be bound by this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If our site or course is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.
